Qin Gang Qin Gang has been appointed vice minister of foreign affairs, according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security on September 13. He is the youngest among the incumbent vice foreign ministers. Born in March 1966, Qin hails from north China's Tianjin and joined the foreign service after graduating from the University of International Relations in 1988 with a bachelor's degree. Before assuming his current post, he was assistant minister of foreign affairs from 2017 to 2018 and director of the Protocol Department from 2014 to 2018. Qin had also worked for the Department of West European Affairs and the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassy to the United Kingdom. He won widespread recognition at home and abroad as spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2005 to 2010 and from 2011 to 2014. Comments to dingying@bjreview.com |
