Liu Yuankun (center), Vice Governor of Guizhou Province, at a press conference on the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang on July 7 (JI JING) The Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang will be held in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province on July 8-10. A range of topics regarding green finance, green development, green cities, ecological and environmental protection and poverty alleviation will be discussed in 37 sessions. "Guizhou has beautiful natural sceneries. However, its environment is extremely vulnerable. Also, as an underdeveloped region, Guizhou has a large number of people living under the poverty line," said Guizhou Vice Governor Liu Yuankun at a press conference in Guiyang on July 7. "In recent years, Guizhou has attached equal importance to poverty alleviation and environmental protection," Liu added. The Eco Forum represents one of Guizhou's efforts toward ecological preservation. Initiated in 2009, the forum has evolved into a non-governmental international platform for promoting ecological preservation and green economy. Over 1,200 government officials, scholars, entrepreneurs, heads of international organizations as well as journalists will attend the forum. (Reporting from Guiyang, Guizhou Province) |
